Come on you Arsenal!!

Hi Everyone,

I really enjoyed good care week. It was loads of fun. We all wore t-shirts for Sports Relief. It was great.

I am now officially a volunteer at Isabel Hospice!! I help sell books, DVD’s, and games on the website. I scan the barcodes and they have to be over a certain value. If they have enough value we can sell them.

I am just about to start going to the drama group. Our first session is on Thursday. I’m really excited!!

I managed to get free tickets to see Arsenal playing Norwich at the Emirates in April!! I’m really looking forward to it!

All the best,

Jack

Such a Drama!

Hi Everyone, It’s been a while!

I’ve been very busy! I’ve been going to Earthworks. I had an interview last week at ‘John O’Connor’ and I’m hoping to hear something back soon! I went to Isabel Hospice for a trial working in their ebay / warehouse department. That went very well so fingers crossed, I’m hoping that that will be a regular thing.

I’m going to be in a play! I’m going to be doing a Drama course for 12 weeks and then a performance. I’m really excited!

I’ve been enjoying playing Resident Evil on my Xbox recently. It’s very scary!

Next week is good care week. We are having a special event at Nimrod Drive. We’re going to be wearing fancy dress, decorating cakes and plant pots and having lots of visitors!

Best Wishes,

Jack

New Year Beginnings

Hi Everyone!

I am very sorry; I haven’t updated my blog for ages! I’ve been so busy!

My Christmas was excellent! I eat loads of food and I got nice presents. I spent Christmas with my Mum and we had a quiet but good day!

On New Year’s Eve I went out with friends to celebrate. I ended up staying out late and sleeping at a friend’s house!

I have now got a ‘Work Advisor’ through Work Solutions. I am working with her to find a paid Job. So fingers crossed!

In the meantime, I’m keeping busy with Earthworks and other bits and pieces.

In May, I’m going on holiday with some of my housemates to Spain! I’m really looking forward to it!

All the best,

Jack

Christmas and Stupid Hats!

Hi Everyone!

I had another busy and hectic week last week! I’m still doing my work solutions programme for another 2 weeks. Tomorrow I am practicing interview techniques. I’ve got to get dressed up in my smartest clothes!

Friday night I was out with Earthworks and the Round Table in Chiswell Green. It was a charity night time walk in aid of Earthworks and the Round Table. We walked for miles! We started walking at 6.15pm and finished at 9pm! It was a good night and good result because we raised about £900! We had to follow a float. It was hard work keeping up with it. We also had a map of the area. We had to wear a cloak and stupid hat!

I’ve done all my Christmas shopping, which I’m really pleased about. I’ve got a busy week ahead and lots of food! I’m going for 2 Carvery’s this week!!

Kind Regards,

Jack

Out and About

Hi Everyone!

I had a busy week! I started my Work Solution Programme. This will help me build my CV, find a job, practice interviews and they'll even keep helping me after I've got a job! It’s a good course!

I went bowling this week. I came second (but it was a really close match!).

I went to see Welwyn Garden Christmas Lights be turned on. It was amazing!

Last Sunday I went to the Herts Awards Ceremony. I won a Bronze Award for ‘ongoing volunteering with the CHICC particularly with the young commissioners’. It was a good ceremony.

I’ve had a good weekend. I went to my Mum’s on Friday and on Saturday some friends came round who I hadn’t seen in a long time.

Tonight, I'm just chilling out, ready for another busy week!

Best Wishes,

Jack

A'maze'ing!

Hi Everyone,

When I left you last, I was about to go the U2 concert. They were amazing!!! It was a great day.

Unfortunately, things didn’t work out with the pub job but I’m going to be starting a 5 week course with Work Solutions to learn job skills. That should really help with finding work in the future. I’m really looking forward to it.

I am also going on a training day with Isobel Hospice to be a volunteer worker, which is exciting!

I went to Margate with Jon on Halloween. It was fantastic! We stayed in an old fashioned hotel. We went to ‘Fright Night’. They had ‘Horror Mazes’, we went on rides and we went out for dinner. It was a great experience.

This week, I went to see the Watford Christmas lights, in the shopping centre being turned on. I was very high up (on the top floor of the shopping centre). I had an excellent view. They were turned on by Troy Deaney the football player. I’m also going to Welyn Garden City next week to see their lights turned on!

Best Wishes,

Jack

New Jobs and Rock and Roll!

Hi Everyone!

I have been VERY busy this week! I’ve been mostly out of the house (nearly everyday).

I started my new work experience this week. I am working at the Co-op in Hatfield for 2 weeks (but it might be longer). So far, I have worked in the warehouse, on the tills, checking and rotating stock and checking the dates and tidying the shelves. I am really happy and excited to have this job!

I also found out this week that I've got an interview on Saturday for a local pub. I’m really nervous. I’ve done lots of research about Greene King so I hope that helps. Ian and I discussed strategy tonight so I feel well prepared (I hope!).

In the meantime I’m still going to Earthworks so I’ve had a really full week.

On Wednesday night I went to Quazer with some friends, which was great fun! I had so much fun that I missed my last bus home and ended up having to stay at a friends house!

I’m enjoying a well earned rest indoors tonight.

Now for the REALLY exciting news. I had a message from a friend of mine earlier in the week and they offered me a FREE ticket to go and see U2 at the O2 on Sunday!!! How lucky am I?!!! My mum is really jealous because U2 are one of her favourite bands. I’ll let you all know how it goes!

Best wishes,

Jack

Hello From Jack!

Hello everybody. This is my first blog post!

I moved into No.4 Nimrod Drive in July. I feel like No.4 Is a very friendly and happy place to live in. It feels like I've been here for years!

I think I have achieved a lot since I've been here. Already! I am going to be starting some work experience at the Co-op in Hatfield next week and I’m really looking forward to it!

One of the reasons I wanted to move to No.4 was to develop my independence. I think this has gone very well so far. I can now make myself hot drinks in the kitchen and transport them by using a trolley. I’ve learnt how to check things around the house to make sure they are safe to use. I am also developing my skills by doing household jobs like helping to cook dinner.

I love to be independent and I do many things on my own, like going to Earthworks in St. Alban’s on the bus and going out with my friends for a drink.

In the summer, I went to the Reading Festival which was fantastic! I can’t wait to go again next year. I didn't get back to the house until 2am!! I’d been out since 11am.

As part of my role of being on the Care Leavers Group in Hertfordshire, I have to regularly attend important meetings every few months with the managers from children's services. At the moment I’m helping with filming for their care leavers event which is going to be held in a couple of weeks.

I have also helped Social Services interview new Social Workers which was very useful and gave me more experience.

I have had some great days out since I've been living here. We have been to Margate (twice!) and I'm going back again in a few weeks for ‘Fright Night’. I can’t wait for that!

I’ve also been to Southend-on-Sea, London and Reading!

I’m really excited about getting my Blog up and running. I have attached some photos from the trips to London and Southend. I’ll add some more as I get them.

All the Best!

Jack
